THE CURIOUS CASE OF IPS SUDHIR JOSHI!

Jaipur: Few more interesting facts have come to light regarding IPS Sudhir Joshi, who came in ‘limelight’ due to ACB’s action while he served as Dungarpur SP. Joshi, who was promoted from RPS to IPS in January 2021, has been serving on ‘armchair’ postings since day one of his career. A native of Bhilwara of Udaipur division, Joshi has never served anywhere other than Udaipur belt, apart from a short period of 33 months. In the past two decades, several governments came and went but none of them thought it prudent to shift Joshi out of Udaipur division. Knowledgeable sources claim that this is an uncommon feat considering the police service.

Joshi started his career with first posting in Chittorgarh in April 1999 after which for the first few months (totalling 33 months) he served at Kota, Pali and Jaipur. But for the remaining almost two decades, he served on various positions as CO, Deputy SP, Additional SP and then promoted as SP, but he was never posted out of Udaipur division. He is therefore considered to be proficient in law and order of Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Banswara and Dungarpur districts.

These four districts are also considered to be the strong hold of illegal liquor and opium and with the black money thus earned by those engage in it, even the cops earn big bucks. And since Sudhir Joshi has been serving in these districts for the past 2 decades, he should surely know how this ‘moolah’ is earned. According to knowledgeable sources, it is due to this ‘knowledge’ and ‘information’, Joshi has been able to get ‘conservation’ of powerful politicians. PHQ is abuzz with the word speculating on the political management of Sudhir Joshi and officials are stunned as to his pull that right after being promoted from RPS to IPS he was given the post of Dungarpur SP. In fact, even after repeated complaints, he remains steadfast on the position for 18 months.

The common shopkeepers and traders were so fed up of police in Dungarpur that after ACB’s action, the entire market observed a close down in support of ACB. Although till now complaints against Sudhir may be getting dumped at PHQ, but now he has crossed paths with ACB and the Bureau is bent on taking legal action against him. There are still 12 years left to Joshi’s service, but ACB’s action has put a huge question mark on his future!
