SP GRAPPLES WITH TUSSLE FOR SEATS

Lucknow: Serious challenges are cropping up before the Samajwadi Party, which has been successful in inducting over a dozen sitting BJP MLAs in its fold.

It is almost certain that due to the massive influx of leaders from other parties and alliance partnerships, many SP leaders will be deprived of tickets.

Along with such Samajwadi Party workers, dissatisfaction has also started brewing among the leaders who have recently joined the party but are unable to get the ticket from their desired seats.

The tussle is clearly visible in the first phase of elections, which is evident from the Mant Assembly seat.

Here the name of RLD leader Yogesh Nohwar was announced but later Sanjay Lathar of SP was made the candidate in his place.

At present, both the leaders are claiming to contest from this seat, due to which confusion has been created among the grassroot level workers.

Imran Masood, considered to be a strong Muslim face of western UP, broke ties with the Congress and joined the SP last week, but his electoral prospects has become unbalanced due to the joining of BJP turncoat Dharamveer Saini.

There are speculations that in the changed scenario, the supporters of Masood are also looking for possibilities in the BSP.

According to SP sources, there are around 7o seats that will be given to allies and newly joined leaders. In such a situation, political expert Ashok Tripathi believes that those party leaders will definitely get frustrated, whose claim will be denied and tickets will be given to the candidate of SP ally.

Obviously, balancing the ticket distribution is a very complex task for the Samajwadi Party leadership
