Seats doubled in 8 Vet colleges sans Govt nod, stayed by HC

Jaipur: In a case of out of turn favour, the Veterinary University Bikaner issued orders on February 15 to increase the seats in eight Animal Husbandry Diploma Institutes. Interestingly, the seats can only be increased after the approval of the State Government. However, the High Court has stayed the counselling in all the institutes.

It said that on February 14, a letter from the Principal Secretary to the Governor mentioned increasing the seats from 50 to 100 in the institutes. It also said that university administration must form a committee and submit its report in three days.

Besides, orders were given to form a committee to give recognition to three new institutions. Subsequently, the committee inspected eight colleges in five districts in just three days and submitted its report. The university immediately recognised these colleges and included them in the counselling.

To increase the seats, the organisation deposits a fee of Rs 1 lakh to the State Government. Later, a State Government-led committee, including one member from the organisation, inspects the institution.
