PM MODI’S WATER RELIEF TO PARCHED RAJASTHAN

On Tuesday, December 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a massive rally in Jaipur at Dadiya, celebrating the one year of governance in Rajasthan under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. During his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the first phase of the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project’ (PKC-ERCP), a vital project aimed at addressing the water scarcity issues in 21 districts of the state. This ambitious initiative will receive an estimated Rs 63,000 crore from the central government. Thus, PM Modi’s visit marks a significant milestone in Rajasthan’s journey towards becoming a key player in India’s development.

In his vision for “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), PM Modi has outlined 11 Sankalps (resolutions) that he believes will transform India into a developed nation. These include ensuring that both the government and citizens diligently perform their duties, prioritizing the development of all regions and societies, and fostering a zero-tolerance policy against corruption at all levels. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of eradicating nepotism, honouring the Constitution, and promoting women-led development initiatives. Furthermore, he stressed the need to move away from a colonial mindset, advocate for “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India), and ensure that reservations are not based on religion.

This vision of PM Modi is what motivates and guides Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s leadership in Rajasthan. His government has made remarkable strides, such as organizing a monumental investment summit that resulted in over Rs 35 lakh crore in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs). This initiative is aimed at positioning Rajasthan as a central hub for investment, which will contribute significantly to the state’s economic growth, as the current state government eyes make Rajasthan a 350 billion-dollar economy, and the national goal of making India the third-largest economy in the world.

In his first year, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s government has already garnered public appreciation due to its governance reforms and focus on public welfare. The Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, which has benefited over 65 lakh farmers, the successful recruitment of over 32,000 individuals in various sectors, and the major push to solar-power generation showcase the government’s commitment to social development. Additionally, Rajasthan has made progress in tackling corruption, with the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that led to the arrest of individuals involved in the 2021 paper leak scandal.

The Bhajan Lal government signed an MoU with Madhya Pradesh regarding the revised PKC-ERCP project in the presence of the then Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. With this MoU, Shekhawat’s claim was also validated, in which he accused the previous Congress government of misleading the public about this project. At that time, Shekhawat had firmly announced that as soon as the BJP government came to power in the state, they would fulfill Modi’s guarantee and the aspirations of the state’s people at all costs. And that’s exactly what happened.

Moreover, the PKC-ERCP and Yamuna Water Agreement have been major achievements, ensuring access to drinking water and irrigation for the state’s residents. PM Modi’s vision of “states make the nation” is being realized in Rajasthan through these efforts, as the state continues to contribute to India’s larger growth narrative. Interestingly, the ‘gold standard’ of the public’s acceptance of any government and its corresponding welfare work has always been the election results and with a BJP victory in five out of seven byelection seats recently, the political atmosphere has shifted in Rajasthan, signalling that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s leadership is gaining traction and pushing the state towards greater prosperity, which has found acceptance and support among the masses as well.
