PHED bribery case: Chief engineer, 3 others sent to jail

Jaipur: A Day after PHED Chief Engineer Manish Beniwal and three others were arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10.40 lakhs, the accused were on Tuesday produced before a court by the ACB. They were later sent to the jail by the court. The agency also recovered Rs 6 lakhs from the residence of PHED clerk Shafiq. Notably, the ACB had filed a disproportionate assets case against Manish Beniwal in 2006. Later, in 2016, a case of misuse of power was also registered against him by the ACB. During the search operation, the ACB found documents related to 20 bighas of a farm house in Vatika, a hotel near SKIT in Ramnagariya among others.
