Meerut: After the cancellation of Kanwar Yatra, the boundaries of Haridwar in Uttarakhand have been sealed from July 24 to August 6. Here the Kanwar fair begins with Guru Purnima.

Haridwar administration is continuously appealing that Kanwariyas should not come here. If they come, they will be sent back or will be quarantined for 14 days. Uttarakhand IG (Law & Order) V Murugeshan said that Haridwar Police has made special arrangements to provide Gangajal.

Kanwar Seva Sangh of other states including Uttar Pradesh can take Ganga water from here by filling it in tankers. For that, these unions will have to come to Haridwar with written permission from the police of their district. Dushyant Rohta, associated with Shiv Kanwar Seva Samiti in Meerut, told that Gangajal will be filled in tanker from Haridwar & brought to Meerut after worshiping it. For this we are seeking permission from the district administrations of Meerut and Haridwar.
