Malhotra’s Bikaner legacy earns national recognition
Jaipur: Sanjay Malhotra, a 1990 batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with his tenure beginning on December 11. A native of Bikaner, Malhotra is known for his pragmatic approach and has held key roles such as SDM of Bikaner North and Collector of Alwar UIT and Chittorgarh. His expertise in energy, finance, revenue, and taxation was crucial in revitalizing the energy sector through initiatives like the UDAY scheme.
Malhotra’s appointment follows the tenure of Shaktikanta Das and adds to Rajasthan’s growing influence in national governance, with past officers like Sunil Arora (Chief Election Commissioner) and Rajiv Mehrishi (CAG) also holding prominent roles. This milestone has sparked enthusiasm within the state’s bureaucracy.
