HOW UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN MINISTER KALLA & ACS GOYAL WORKED TO TURN AROUND THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Jaipur: The team of Minister BD Kalla and ACS PK Goyal, in the Education Department, are doing a wonderful job in the department. This team is a shining example of understanding, coordination and mutual trust between minister and ACS. A major reason for this is the familial and personal relations as well. Since the time the team of Kalla-Goyal has taken over the reins of education, major developments have occurred in the field. Their program ‘Rajasthan mein shiksha ke badhte kadam’, started to bring back the enrolment of students who fell out of school during corona times has been recorded in the World Book of Records. Only last week, a certificate was given to minister BD Kalla and ACS Pawan Kumar Goyal in this regard. Also, with improvement in infrastructure and basic facilities in schools across the state, rajasthan is now at LEVEL-2 of performance grading index (PGI) to assess school education with a score of 903. This is likely the first time that Rajasthan has reached LEVEL-2 in the PGI report. The index was released by the Ministery of Education this month and LEVEL-2 is the highest rating in the latest report.

“In the coming years, this ranking might improve further as now our focus is on basics of education in children,” PK Goyal told First India. With minister Kalla’s regular appeals to philanthropists, a remarkable infrastructure development has been made possible within one year itself. Under the Kalla-Goyal team, the Education department has undertaken several worthy activities. Students from classes 1-8th are being given free uniforms and under the Balgopal scheme, milk is being provided to children twice a week. To promote digital education, TVs, set-up boxes and internet facilities are being provided in schools while to promote girl child education, scooty and cycles are being distributed free of cost and Gargi award and ‘hamari betiyan’ schemes are being run. A major focus has been put on teachers as well and several programmes have been run to better the service conditions. What is most important is the fact that there has not been any controversy in teacher transfers and a major reason for that is the coordination and understanding between the minister and ACS. It is widely known that the relationship between the previous minister and secretaries were not cordial and the minister had got two secretaries transferred as a result of which the work of the department suffered. officials in the department reveal that quick disposal of files at the level of the minister and marathon monitoring of day to day works of the department at the level of ACS, has resulted in the expected betterment of the department. ACS PK Goyal, in the past, has handled various positions in the Education department and his experience is now proving to be worthwhile.
