Healthcare services affected as doctors continue protest

Jaipur: Clashes broke out once again between doctors and police during the doctors’ protest against the Right to Health Bill in Jaipur on Tuesday. The police tried to disperse the protesters using water cannons. Doctors were lathi-charged a day before also. Doctors have stopped working in protest against the bill. They alleged that the government has not included their conditions and suggestions in the bill. The bill was passed in the assembly on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to the doctors in Jodhpur to call off their agitation. He said that he was personally appealing to all the doctors to be positive and return to work. From Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors Narendra Damor said, “Today, resident doctors are not working at SMS Hospital & other hospitals attached to it (JK Lone, Zanana, Sanganeri Gate). Also, resident doctors’ unions from Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota and from other districts have extended their support.
