HC directs not to use ‘Royal’ titles

Jaipur: A legal appeal has been filed in the High Court with regard to use of the word “Raja” in the case related to Barwada House.

Justice Sameer Jain on Friday took cognisance of the matter in the Bhagwati Singh versus ‘Raja’ Laxman Singh dispute and directed Additional Solicitor General RD Rastogi and Advocate General MS Singhvi as well as the lawyers of the petitioner and respondent not to use it anymore.

He said as per the 26th Constitutional Amendment, Article 363-A prohibits use of titles like ‘Raja’, ‘Nawab’, ‘Maharaja’, ‘Rajkumar’ etc, and it must be honoured
