Excise department faces storage crisis as seized liquor piles up
Jaipur: In a bizarre turn of events, the Excise Department in Jaipur is grappling with a major issue regarding the storage of seized illicit liquor. With all the designated storage rooms, or “maal khanas,” reported to be full, authorities are struggling to find adequate space to store alcohol seized during recent raids. According to reports, six police stations and seven circles in the capital city have filled their storage facilities to capacity. As a result, in some cases, the seized liquor has had to be kept inside the very vehicles that were used to transport it.
The situation became more complicated when a truck, which had been seized along with 800 cartons of illicit liquor, was eventually auctioned off with the liquor inside it and department to seek permission from the court to remove the alcohol. As of now, a committee has been formed to ensure proper disposal of 800 cartons of seized liquor.
