BELOW 50 FORMULA BRINGS HOPE FOR YOUNG CONGRESS LEADERS
Jaipur: Congress party’s new formula of giving 50 percent tickets in future elections to leaders below 50 years of age has awakened enthusiasm among young leaders of the party.
At the same time, the formula announced in the party’s Chintan Shivir held recently in Udaipur has brought worries for the leaders above 50. The party has fixed the age for elections for Parliament and state legislatures, and for other elected posts. However, due to this formula, more than a dozen sitting MLAs will not be able to get the ticket again. With this bold decision, the party is looking to promote young leaders in view of the youth vote bank. Many young leaders have said goodbye to the country’s oldest party with the reasons being the party’s elderly leaders. Now the announcement of the formula has filled the youth leaders of the party with enthusiasm and the hopes of active youth leaders under the age of 50 are high.
The decision is going to have a huge impact in Rajasthan.
Due to the age limit, more than a dozen sitting MLAs and senior leaders will be out of the ticket race because they are above 60 and 70 years of age.It is certain that 50 percent of the tickets will be given to the seniors, yet there is a feeling of restlessness among the aged leaders.
However, there may be exceptions like Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal, Assembly Speaker CP Joshi and education minister BD Kalla.
