Alwar Collector Shukla’s efforts give forest dept its land back
Alwar: In the parliamentary constituency of the country’s Minister of Forests and Environment, Bhupendra Yadav, Alwar District Collector, IAS Artika Shukla, has added a new chapter to the history of the Sariska Tiger Reserve.
During a survey, land from over a dozen villages in six tehsils surrounding Sariska was identified as forest department land. By persistently following up with her subordinates, Collector Shukla managed to get 50,000 Bighas of unsurveyed land included in the revenue records, taking a significant step towards conserving water, forests, and land. She had the survey of this invaluable land around Sariska conducted and sent the complete records to the Revenue Board in Ajmer.
The Collector urged the Revenue Board to implement this land into the revenue records. This action has shaken the individuals who had encroached on Sariska’s forest land for years. It has also put pressure on the officials of the forest and revenue departments, as well as the mafias and political figures who protected them.
