46-yr-old brain dead woman gives life to 4

Jodhpur: The 46-year-old woman, who was admitted to AIIMS Jodhpur after a road accident and was declared brain dead on August 30, gave new lives to four people even after her death. The woman’s organs were donated on Saturday with the consent of the family.

Kanwarai Devi’s heart, liver and kidney were brought to Jaipur by flight.

The liver was allotted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital while the heart and one kidney were transplanted to a patient in SMS Hospital and one kidney in Jodhpur.

Doctor AS Sandhu of AIIMS said that the heart was sent by flight.

According to the information, Devi had a head injury. She was admitted to AIIMS on August 28 but was declared brain dead on August 30 after which the doctors counselled her family members for organ donation.
