3-HOUR RAIN WREAKS HAVOC IN DELHI-NCR
New Delhi: Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on Friday, leaving several areas waterlogged. Traffic jams were witnessed at several places, while water entered many homes in parts of Delhi. One person died, while many were injured after a portion of roof of the Delhi airport’s Terminal-1 collapsed. Besides the roof sheet, the support beams also collapsed, damaging the cars parked in the pick-up and drop area of the terminal.
All flights from the terminal at the IGI Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, scheduled till 2 pm have been cancelled, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said after inspecting the airport. With power cuts, waterlogging, flight suspensions, Delhi govt in emergency mode as 88-year-old record broken as city sees 228.1 mm rain in over 24 hours.
