2nd cub also dies at N’garh

Jaipur: Lioness Durga’s second cub, which was battling for life finally breathed its last on Sunday. The lioness gave birth to two cubs on August 10. One cub was stillborn. After this, the furious tigress attacked the second cub and injured its neck.

The cub was shifted to the Neonatal Care Centre of Nahargarh Biological Park. The treatment was going on under the supervision of senior veterinarian Dr Arvind Mathur. The cub’s heartbeat had stopped due to the wound inflicted by the lioness. Mathur tried to save its life by giving CPR but after about 40 hours of struggle, the cub died.

The cub will be cremated after a post-mortem in the presence of DCF Jagdish Gupta.
