2 dead in Ranchi, 227 held in UP, WB BJP chief & YouTuber arrested

New Delhi: At least two persons died of a bullet injuries in Jharkhand’s Ranchi on Saturday, where the police fired in the air to disperse a crowd pelting stones, as protests erupted in several towns and cities across the country on Friday against derogatory references to the Prophet made by former BJP spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal.

ARRESTS IN UP UP Police on Saturday detained Javed Ahmed, alleged “mastermind” behind violence in Prayagraj. “There could be more masterminds. A total of 227 people were arrested from various districts of UP.

HOWRAH VIOLENCE Fresh violence between police and a group of protesters broke out at Panchla Bazaar in Howrah where 60 arrested. BJP’s WB chief Sukanta Majumdar was arrested on Saturday when he tried to visit violence-hit Howrah dist, police said.
