112 villages in dark as electricity infrastructure takes massive hit

Barmer: The severe thunderstorms and heavy rain witnessed in Rajasthan’s Barmer district have caused massive damage in the district. Due to heavy thunderstorms lots of makeshift structures have also been damaged. Maximum damage has been caused to the Jodhpur Discom as more than 1250 electricity poles have fallen down and 50 power transformers got damaged leading to power outages at many places. Initial report revealed power cut in more than 112 villages.

Discom officials said that teams have been sent in the affected areas but it took at least two days to restore the supply. Till then the affected area may remain in the dark, officials said.
