‘POWER IS A MEAN TO SERVE PEOPLE’

Surat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone and dedicated various projects worth more than Rs 3,400 crores in Gujarat’s Surat. He is on a twoday visit to the state. “After the formation of double engine govt in Gujarat, construction of houses has also accelerated and other facilities are also being provided to the poor and middle class in Surat,” PM said. PM said that Bhavnagar Port will play an important role in building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and hundreds of new employment opportunities in the fields of storage, transportation and logistics will be created. In a veiled dig at AAP, which is hoping to oust BJP from power in Gujarat polls, PM said, “For us, power is a means to serve people; we carried out development without spending huge money on publicity.” Prime Minister Modi also said, “I have implement Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation scheme.”
