Torrent Power tariff hiked 5-10p in A’bad, G’nagar
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has increased the power tariff for customers of Torrent Power Ltd (TPL) in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar by five paise and 10 paise. There is no change in the power tariff for consumers of the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL).
In a statement to the press, GERC Director DR Parmar said that Torrent Power consumers in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar who use 51-200 units per month will pay 5 paise more per unit, while those who use more than 200 units per month will pay 10 paise more per unit.
There is no increase in power tariff for consumers of UGVCL, and Torrent Power’s BPL consumers, who make up 18% of its user base.
GERC has approved a power purchase cost of Rs4.77 per unit for TPL rupees in 2020-21, and a base FPPPA charge of Rs1.82 per unit. For 2021-22, the commission has approved power purchase cost Rs4.85 per unit, while the base FPPPA remains at Rs1.82 per unit.
For UGVCL, the power purchase cost approved for 2020-21 is Rs4.30 per unit, with base FPPPA charges of Rs1.59 per unit. For the year 2021-22 GERC has approved a power purchase cost of Rs4.48 per unit and has revised the base FPPPA to Rs1.80 per unit.
Transmission and distribution (T&D) losses target set for UGVCL for the year 2021-22 is 9%, while that for TPL Ahmedabad is 6.24%.
