Minor rescued as 3-storey building collapses
Surat: A 13-year-old girl was rescued unscathed from a three-storey building which collapsed due to rain in the city’s Golwad area on Sunday. Three other persons were injured and sent to the hospital for further treatment.
A primary investigation revealed that the civic body had sent multiple notices to the residents of the building, which is more than 20 years old.
The persistent rain in recent days caused the building to collapse—an incident that caused wide-spread panic. In addition to the fire and emergency services, the mayor also arrived at the scene of the accident.
Fire department officials stated that most people rushed out of their homes when the building collapsed, except for the 13-year-old.
In a separate incident, a three-year-old was taken to a hospital in Udhna for treatment, after part of a slab of a residential building collapsed, injuring her.
