When I ask for one month to rehearse for dance steps, people think I’m joking: Hrithik Roshan reveals his prep for any dance song

Revealing the process of learning any dance choreography for a song shoot, Hrithik Roshan offers an insight into his creative requirements to perfect a dance routine. 

One of the most celebrated and loved dancing Superstars of the industry, Hrithik Roshan has emerged as the icon of dance in India. Touted amongst the most celebrated dancers, Hrithik Roshan is undoubtedly one of the best dancers of Indian Cinema’s history. Delivering some of the most iconic and celebrated dance numbers to the world, Hrithik Roshan’s effortless dancing skills are no secret. However, not many know the preparation that goes into acing a dance routine of the actor. 

Shedding light on the same, Hrithik Roshan says, “It’s always about the process, don’t have a favourite choreographer, I have a favourite process and anybody who fits in that process, we create amazing things. The process is working with no egos, absolute communication, no feeling bad and if you’re feeling bad, express it, be honest and work hard. Give me time to work hard.” 

He further added, “If you tell someone I want one month to rehearse, especially if it’s coming from me, they think I’m joking. Prabhudeva and Farhan Akhtar in Main Aisa Kyon Hoon, they gave me a month. Mr Bhansali gave me a month, in fact he gave me two months (for Jaane Kiske Khwaab from Guzaarish). So once you have time and you have will, you just have to work hard.”

Learning Ballet from choreographer Ashley Lobo for Jaane Kiske Khwaab from Guzaarish, Hrithik Roshan trained for the dance form for nearly two months. Taking time to internalise the steps, learn it till you can repeat them in your sleep, is Hrithik Roshan’s process to ace any dance routine. 

With a long list of dance numbers to his credit like Ek Pal Ka Jeena, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, You Are My Soniya, It’s Magic, Bumbro Bumbro, Main Aisa Kyon Hoon, Dhoom Again, Baawre, Bang Bang, Tu Meri, Ghungroo and the latest Alcoholia amongst others, Hrithik Roshan is an inspiration to aspiring dancers across the spectrum.
