Today’s Generation has lost the connect to movies : Ameesha Patel

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’s that’s gearing up to release this year after the hiatus of long twenty one years. The film will see Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their characters as Sakeena and Charanjeet. Ameesha in an exclusive conversation with Ashish Tiwari spoke about her journey and more. 

Speaking on if she remembers the day she entered the industry she said , “ I can never forget the day I started not everyone knows my first day on shoot was for the Janeman Janeman Song . For someone like me who hails from a Non Filmy Background to start my journey with such a humongous set and such a huge song was a big deal . I was excited and nervous at the same time But everyone supported me. As even Hrithik was new he said that we are this together”

Ameesha has garnered immense love from the audience she said , “I  feel i am very lucky that people have loved me . With the love that I have received i have tried to give my best to the audience. I am thankful to all the directors and producers who have trusted an outsider like me have put in efforts on me”

Adding to it she said , “It’s nothing less than a miracle that I could carve my name in the hearts of the audience and even after 20 years they eagerly waiting Gadar 2 on screen . I consider myself god’s child that i have been entitled to so much love”

Gadar was a movie that made Ameesha a national crush on which she said , “I can never forget the moment when Gadar Aired . It’s a momentous milestone for me. Not everyone gets the pleasure to experience this . Many times actors with large career spans of 20-30 years are also not entitled to such movies I am just thankful that I have received this opportunity and will be able to experience it again with Gadar 2”

Speaking on the making of the movie she said , “The songs will not disappoint anyone. Some new classics and some old ones have been retained . The movie is being shot with same love and efforts and the story that was loved so much will be taken a step ahead . People will get to experience what happens next. Its a complete package with all kinds of love , emotions , comedy , dialogues”

Her character of Sakina from Pakistan was quite acclaimed she said , “Gadar the character Sakina reads Quran also at the same time visits Gurudwara. Dara Singh had also happily accepted that he can come and live in Pakistan . So The movie sends out a very powerful message that love can surpass any hurdle”

Ameesha opened up on why she’s choosy on the movie she does ,  “When a benchmark is being set it becomes to difficult to please the audience. I have tried movies from all genres possible and now that I make a comeback a movie like Gadar 2 makes up to their expectations”

Ameesha also spoke on Bollywood movies failing at the box office , “Maybe we are now focusing on stuffs that are not important we are forgetting that Content is the king. A movie that is not made by heart cannot touch the audience’s heart. Also there’s a chance that the taste of audience has evolved and bollywood hasn’t been able to cope up with it. Or maybe there’s so much entertainment and good content on OTT that people refrain spending on movies”

Adding to it she said , “ We have seen the glory of a good film today’s generation is busy on Instagram and doesn’t focus on making good films. They have lost the connect. We were never distracted with other things we only concentrated on the content till today I do the same. If everyone starts doing the same we have a scope of change”
