Rakshabandhan Special: COLORS' actors share the tales of their ties with their siblings
Tanvi Dogra playing the role of Neeti in COLORS’ ‘Parineetii’ says, “From the moment I held Rohan’s tiny hand, I knew he'd be the most important person in my life. I've picked up so many wonderful things from our time together. Traveling with him feels like being on a reality show, with his constant entertainment keeping everyone in splits. I still remember us fighting over Rakshabandhan's gifts. The festival has always been a cherished occasion for me, and I ensure I spend it with him every year. He is the biggest fan of my show Parineetii and he always asks for spoilers about the next twist on the show. No matter where life takes us, he’ll always be my little brother, and I'll always be his biggest cheerleader.”
Namish Taneja essaying the role of Raghav in COLORS’ ‘Mishri’ says, “Rakshabandhan is a day I always make sure to be home for, no matter what. Our family celebrates this festival with a lot of fanfare. All the members gather in the morning and offer prayers to Matarani, and then all the cousins eat together. My sister and I never express our love for each other, but we have each other’s backs. She is super proud of the appreciation that Mishri has been getting, but she will never let me know about it. This kind of love is the most solid and pure. My sister gives the most creative gifts, and every year asks for her favourite gift bluntly. I’m very excited to know what I’m going to get this year. I wish everyone Happy Rakshabandhan!”
Shagun Pandey essaying the role of Veer in COLORS’ ‘Mera Balam Thanedaar’ says, “I have a younger sister with whom I share an incredibly close bond. Even though we’re in different places, she always seems to know when I’m feeling down, without me having to say a word. Rakshabandhan brings back memories—my mom would try to wake us up early. My sister would always be ready with the Rakshabandhan thali, playfully teasing Dad about how I was always late. Now, when we’re apart and miss each other, we send food as a way of expressing our love. She knows that I the dishes I love, and she makes sure to have them delivered to me on the sets of Mera Balam Thanedaar on special days like this one. Neil Bhatt essaying the role of Arjun in COLORS’ ‘Megha Barsenge’ says, “We celebrate Rakshabandhan in a very simple, traditional way at home. My younger sister, Shikha, ties a rakhi to my wrist, performs aarti, and we sweeten the moment with treats. However, things are bit different now. I will miss Shikha dearly as she won’t be here for the celebration. She will send a rakhi for me, our mother will tie it on her behalf, while Shikha joins us through a video call. Shikha has always been my pillar of support, like a second mother to me, and I, in turn, have been a guiding presence for her, like a second father. Her excitement for my new show, Megha Barsenge, warms my heart. Though we are apart, our bond remains strong, transcending distance. Here’s wishing everyone a joyful and loving Rakshabandhan!”
Deepika Singh essaying the role of Mangal in COLORS’ ‘Mangal Lakshmi’ says, “Being an elder sister, my brother is the light of my life, yet we fight with each other a lot. we love each other too and are there in each other’s low. I have witnessed him growing up. The first time he watched Mangal Lakshmi, he said that Mangal is my onscreen alter ego. As siblings, we’ve always been there for each other as captured in the show. I remember during our school days, my brother would give me gifts with his own pocket money, and I always felt so proud of him. From those early days to now, he has continuously made me proud. I hope everyone gets to celebrate their siblings on this day!”
