Mumbai (Maharashtra): Hearing scandals and rumours about the private lives of celebrities is an everyday routine for everyone. While some come true, others die down after a certain period. But hearing something gruesome and cruel about a celebrity always shocks fans. This is what happened with Ryan Grantham who appeared on the Netflix show, Riverdale. The actor was found guilty of murdering his mother and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Vancouver.

The 24-year-old confessed to having murdered his mother and was sentenced to life imprisonment without any bail for 14 years. He has also been barred from using a gun in his lifetime. According to a report by CBC, Judge Kathleen Kerr called the incident tragic, heart-breaking and life-threatening while delivering the sentence.

The prosecutor revealed that Ryan shot his mother, Barbara Waite on 31 March 2020 and filmed a video beside her lifeless body. In a video taken on a GoPro, the actor could be seen standing next to the lifeless body of his mother while saying, “I shot her in the back of her head. She later understood that I had done it.”

According to the police statements, Ryan bought beers and weed after killing his mother and made Molotov cocktails in the kitchen and watched Netflix as she lay dead on the spot of her murder. He covered her body with a white cloth and went to bed. The next day, Ryan covered his mother’s body with a white cloth and hung a rosary on her piano. He lit candles around her and went ahead for his second murder.

Ryan was planning on killing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and carried three loaded guns, Molotov cocktails, ammunition, camping gear and a map of Rideau Cottage in Ottawa in his car. He revealed that he wanted to kill the PM and had even mentioned it in his diary. After the second murder would have been executed, he was planning a mass shooting at his alma mater, Simon Fraser University or Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver.

But he suddenly changed his mind and handed himself over to the police, saving the Canadian streets from his terror.
