Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing from FRIENDS reveals why he has not watched the show yet: I was taking 55 Vicodin a day

Mumbai (Maharashtra): F.R.I.E.N.D.S. may have come out around 28 years ago, but the American sitcom still finds its fans among the latest generations as well. The show has become a cult classic that is loved all over the world. So much was its fanfare that the makers reunited the original main cast for a reunion episode in 2021. While it is a known fact that the main sestet is still good friends and always had an electrifying chemistry among each other. But particularly one member of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. had some regretful memories associated with the show. Yes, you read that right! And it was none other than Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing.
Chandler was unarguably the most popular character of the sitcom. He and his witty one-liners are a fan favourite and are still echoed by many. But Matthew who played the character recently admitted that he was battling with addiction throughout the filming of the show. According to Fox News, in a recent conversation with CBC about his new memoir ‘Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing’, Matthew revealed that he still has not watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
“I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 lbs, I was on ‘Friends’ getting watched by 30 million people and that’s why I can’t watch the show, ’cause I was brutally thin,” Matthew said. He further added that he could tell the exact substance he abused by the way he looked in each episode. “I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine… I could tell season by season by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see,” he said.
But Matthew also mentioned that although he has not watched the series yet, he is open to the idea of watching it in the near future. “I think I’m gonna start to watch it, because it really has been an incredible thing to watch it touch the hearts of different generations,” the actor said.
Matthew Perry was among the six main casts which also included Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer.
