Kangana Ranaut reacts on the huge loss faced by the PVR INOX, this is not good for the film industry…"

Kangana Ranaut, the indisputable queen of Bollywood, is quite active on social media. Whether it's a political, social, or film-related issue, she never holds back from sharing her ideas. The actress recently responded in a tweet to a post by trade expert Grish Johar notifying readers that the top movie theatre chain PVR INOX declared a net worth loss of Rs. 333 crores for the fourth quarter that concluded on March 31 of this year. Ranaut expressed her worry and said that this is bad for the movie business.

The trade critic tweeted, “Dreaded #BoxOffice is sparing no one… Reportedly, #PVRInox has reported a loss of 333crs approx. in Q4FY23, adding to their loss of 107crs, now thwy plan to close around 50 under performing cinemas in the next 6 months!!! #BOTrends.” Re-sharing his post, the actress wrote, “We need more theatres in the country… we need more screens, this is not good for the film industry… having said that watching films in the multiplexes have become very expensive, going with friends/family means a significant needs to be worked out…”

PVR INOX said in a statement that it will close over 50 movie theatres over the course of the next six months owing to accelerated depreciation on the theatres it intended to close. The statement read, “The company plans to shut down approximately 50 cinema screens over the next 6 months. These properties are loss making, or housed in malls which have reached the end of their life cycle with little hope of any revival. The company has taken an accelerated charge of the depreciation in its books and written off the WDV of assets.”

On the professional front, Kangana is getting ready to ignite the silver screen with her next drama, 'Emergency,' in which she portrays the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actress has gone above and above to really inhabit the part in order to support it. The biography, which is solely directed by Ranaut, also features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Sonam in significant parts. It will debut on October 20, 2023.
