Jubin: Home cooked food is where the heart lies

Rap may look very easy, but it definitely is a difficult feat to achieve. To say each and every word while keeping pace with the fast beats and also sound melodious is not easy. But there are some gems that not only ace the rap genre but also have a soulful voice that can sing any musical form. That is none other than, Jubin Nautiyal who rapped for the first time in his latest song ‘Meethi Meethi’. First India brings an exclusive conversation of the singer with Ashish Tiwari while Jubin dons the hat of a chef on live camera.

Expressing why cooking and food plays a pivotal role in his music video and real life, Jubin said, “I have always seen my mother cooking different things for me in the kitchen. And today I am doing the same. In the mountains we cherish the dal pakoras made from Urad and moong dal . My personal favourites are Manka ki Daal and Chawal with Achaar. I can hog on to that anytime. Home cooked food is where the heart lies.”

He further added, “Our country is so unique, filled with different cultures and tastes is just so heart warming. In the lockdown when I was home I had gained a lot of weight sitting and eating at home but to be back on track I controlled and did a lot of workout. Someone who eats aloo paratha everyday if he switches to normal roti will anyway lose weight.”

Revealing details about his diet, the singer stated, “My diet consists of green leafy vegetables and raw vegetables. I always ensure a high Protein diet intake and I usually prefer home cooked food. Outside fast food you can relish only for some time but in the end your hunger is satisfied with home-cooked food.”

Mentioning how his journey with cooking started, Jubin revealed, “It all started with chai, maggi and anda. If you get these three things right then you get the confidence that you can cook anything. Then I tried chicken which was doomed. But with time, I learned it, then dal, roti and sabzi.

He added, “If a woman who can make rajma chawal and manka di chawal like my mother, I will immediately marry her.”

Talking about experimenting with rap this time, Jubin said, “I have a rule. If you do two for them, do one for yourself. So I never shied away from experimenting. Even when I was experimenting this time, I put my trust in my fans. Maybe I even understand them. I was nervous in the beginning but my entire team put faith in me and that helped.”
