Happu Ki Ultan Paltan actor Sonal Panvar: I would love to play something real, raw, and subtle

Having started with "Crime Patrol" at the age of 17 and doing shows such as "Woh Apna Sa," "Piya Albela," and also some web series, including "Faceless," "Maya 2," and "Candy", sonal Panvar has come a long way. She is also into singing. Currently, she is a part of the show "Happu Ki Ultan Paltan".

"My character's name is Malaika in the show. She is a girl who is very strong and aspires to become a police inspector. She likes Haryanvi culture and tries to speak Haryanvi. It has been 2-plus years now, and the best part is that she is the only one in the show who is very subtle and doesn't overreact to anything. That's the beauty of the character," she says.

Comedy is the toughest genre. "It is the toughest thing in the world. I kept laughing on the first day because I didn't know how not to react to those funny dialogues. It took time to accept it, but I'm glad I now understand the world of comedy," she adds.

The comparison between OTT and tv and how the former is giving competition to the latter is a common topic of discussion.

"After OTT do you feel tv shows are getting a lot of competition? I don't think so. TV has a very different audience who will never like OTT, and the same goes for OTT. There is no comparison at all. I love the concept of OTT. I would love to play something real, raw, and subtle. I would love to portray different characters as much as I can and explore emotions in the best way possible," she says.

So what’s your favourite me time?, " That's when I'm with the books I read, the soft music in the room, and eating something nice that I made myself. It's the simple and best thing I do almost once a week," she smiles.

Ask her what she does when she feels low and she says, "When I'm feeling down, I call a few people I enjoy talking to and allow myself to convert my pain into art. I get up and paint, write a story, or maybe cook some delicious food to feel artistic. That's the best healing process for me."
