Deepika Padukone breaks the racial stereotypes in the Paris Fashion Week

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is forging her own path internationally, not only through movies but also by appearing on popular talk shows and making high-profile appearances at industry events. Deepika currently serves as the global brand ambassador for several well-known companies, including Adidas, Levi's, Louis Vuitton, and, as of recently, Cartier.

Currently, she is at Paris Fashion Week. She is the only Indian celebrity to represent the country. Along with other Hollywood stars like Alicia Vikander and Ana de Armas, she has been attending. Deepika fearlessly called out Hollywood's racial stereotypes and how the West views outsiders during her interaction at the event.

She revealed in the interview that she used to get upset every time she visited the US, whether she was the target of any remarks or actions. She also explained why she hasn't acted in any more foreign films after making her significant Hollywood debut in xXx: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel.

Without mentioning the person, Deepika recalled her interaction with a Hollywood actor. "I know this actor… I met him at this Vanity Fair party, and he said ‘Hey, by the way, you speak English well.’ I didn’t even realise what that meant. And when I came back I said, “What do you mean you speak English really well?” Did he have this notion that we don’t speak English?’” she told Business of Fashion.

In her latest Instagram post, Deepika was quoted as saying, "There was a time when you could come [to India] and just sell whatever you wanted, and we'd buy it or believe in your ideas. But today we have an identity of our own, and we're extremely proud of all of our home-grown brands. It's not one India. It's many Indias. And as Indians, we're also extremely proud of our history, our culture and our heritage. The Indian consumer today cannot be taken for granted."

In terms of her professional career, Deepika will next be seen with her Desi Boyz co-star John Abraham in the Shah Rukh Khan film Pathaan. Additionally, she has the upcoming movies Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, and Project K, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Telugu actors Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.
