Charrul Malik: Technology, social media, and opportunities, when combined are responsible for building unwanted stress in our lives

Youth of India is going through a big transition phase where technology, social media and opportunities are all happening at the same time. There is a lot of confusion be it regarding career choices or relationships or personal life. In fact, we all are exposed to too much of everything irrespective of the age bracket. News Anchor turned actor Charrul Malik shares her opinion.

“Yes, technology, social media, and opportunities, when combined are responsible for building unwanted stress or pressure. Now, you not only have to be great at your work but also have to be active on social media and must be tech-savvy. Apart from all of these things, you also have to keep on hunting for opportunities that come your way. It seems like a cocktail, where everything gets mixed up and is making a massive impact on you. For example, while making a career choice, if I talk about acting, then it is necessary for an actor to stay active on social media rather than focus on his acting skills as then only he or she will pass the eligibility criteria for casting. Well, to participate actively on social media, you must be tech-savvy so that it becomes easy for you to post your work on different social media sites. So, all of these things are interlinked somewhere, and due to this reason, there’s confusion in people's minds. People are always in a dilemma of what they should do or not. It all forces you to multi-task even if you don't wish to because, in the end, it has become a part of your life,” she says.

Charrul also agrees that we are all exposed to too much. Personal life, career, and relationships are all interlinked.  So, if we are not happy in our personal lives, we will be depressed and it will ultimately leave an impact on our career.

“Also, there's a lot of competition out there, and many people are managing their work with the help of personal PRs, and managers, that not everyone can afford. In an era where there is overexposure, you are expected to learn everything, irrespective of the age bracket. Shockingly, children these days are making content on social media with songs that are hard for them to understand. I believe they have lost their innocence. It's not a good idea to follow anything and everything that's trending. Anything that's trending has a huge viewership but it lacks quality. Children are made to believe in distinct ideas for getting famous like exposing themselves and it is creating a bad impact on their relationship with their parents,” she explains
