Fasten your seat belts for a roller-coaster ride of love as COLORS’ ‘Udaariyaan’ soars to new heights with an exhilarating 15-year leap! After a heartwarming journey spanning three generations, the romance drama has taken off into an exciting new era, continuing its legacy with a fresh flock of characters. The show offers a glimpse into the lives of Sarab, Haniya, and Meher, portrayed by the talented Avinesh Rekhi, Aditi Bhagat, and Shreya Jain respectively. In a twist that will keep viewers gripped, the show captures a clash between Sarab and Meher, who find themselves on opposite runways when it comes to matters of the heart. Elated to return to COLORS in the role of Sarab, Avinesh Rekhi opens up about his excitement and the new challenges this character brings.
1. Choti Sarrdaarni garnered immense popularity, and now you're returning to the channel with Udaariyaan. What are your thoughts about this transition?
A. I'm really happy to be back on COLORS because that's where it all began for me. Choti Sarrdaarni was a huge milestone , and my character was well received by the viewers. So, returning to the COLORS family feels like returning home. Being part of Udaariyaan, one of the audiences' favourite shows makes me even happier.
2. What kind of character are you portraying in Udaariyaan and how does it differ from your roles in previous shows, given your reputation as a strong actor?
B. In Udaariyaan, I'm portraying the role of Sarab, a flamboyant character, which is a departure from my previous roles as an idealistic husband or man. This character stands out for his blunt honesty, never shying away from speaking his mind. It's a love-hate dynamic, where he's a Sardar with a simple, cool demeanor, deeply devoted to his stepmother who raised him. He's unable to tolerate any wrongdoing unfolding before him, making him a compelling and multifaceted character. He won't stand by while something wrong is happening in front of him.
3. Do you draw parallels between your character and your own life experiences?
A. In my everyday life, just like in my character's, I can't ignore the wrong things happening around me. Whether on set, in society, or at work, I always speak up and try to make things right.
4. Your experience of working with Ravi and Sargun?
A. I've had the pleasure of meeting Ravi. I've briefly met Sargun twice during the casting process. Ravi is a very relaxed and friendly individual, a genuinely nice person. I've experienced their professionalism and care firsthand during the promo shoots. Ravi took the time to personally congratulate me and welcome me on board, which was a lovely gesture. Given their track record of running successful shows, I'm confident that Ravi and Sargun are excellent producers. Their experience and expertise in the industry speak volumes, and I'm sure they'll ensure everything runs smoothly for our project as well.
5. Lastly, what message would you like to give to your fans?
A. As I've always said, my fans have been incredibly supportive throughout my journey and have shown immense love for my previous shows. So, I'm confident that they'll extend their support for this new venture as well. I'm certain that my fans will embrace this familiar look once again. Moreover, Udaariyaan is a show that has been loved by the audience so there's a sense of responsibility to uphold its reputation and make it even more appealing. I'm eager and confident about meeting this challenge and giving it my all. The change of scenery to Punjab for shooting will bring a unique flavour to the show. It's going to be a memorable journey.
