Adaa Khan: Not everything you see on reels and YouTube is real

Actress Adaa Khan says that while reels and YouTube are clearly the future of entertainment, they don’t necessarily showcase real or authentic content. She adds that while people may feel this is an easy way to success, only hardwork will work in helping you become victorious.

“The future of entertainment seems to include platforms like reels and YouTube, but it's not the only future. Traditional ways like TV and movies are still important. Yes, these platforms will likely be more important in the future. They let more people share their talents, but it's still about having good and unique content,” she says.

She adds, “Being on social media helps people notice your work. It's a good tool for getting recognised, but it's not the only thing. Talent and connections in the industry matter too. As an actress, I know the importance of being real in the midst of all the edited stuff. Not everything you see is real, especially in the world of reels. The characters and stories on screen are a form of art and entertainment. While they can be powerful and moving, it's essential to remember that they are crafted for the screen. Real life is more complex, and the world we see in movies or shows is just a glimpse, a creative expression. It's crucial to enjoy the fantasy on screen but also appreciate the reality off-screen.”

Reels are influencing people in good ways and bad ways, she says, adding, “Reels can be good and bad. They can be fun and creative, but they can also make people feel bad about themselves. It's important to be careful about what we believe when we watch them.”

However, she adds that these platforms are providing people with many more opportunities than before. “I think it's wonderful to see people from various backgrounds expressing themselves on platforms like YouTube. It's a creative outlet for everyone. The diversity of content is refreshing. While it's great that so many are exploring their passions online, I also believe that every career path is valuable. It's essential to follow your interests and dreams, whether that's making YouTube videos or pursuing more traditional professions like being a doctor or engineer. What matters most is finding fulfilment in what you do. But it's not easy for everyone, and success needs hard work. It's interesting to see people from different jobs trying it, but not everyone can be successful on YouTube.”
