Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie passes away at 79
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Christine McVie, a member of one of the most cherished British bands, Fleetwood Mac passed away on November 30. The singer-songwriter, 79, was suffering from an illness for a short span. The news was declared by her family through an official statement. “She passed away peacefully at the hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family,” the statement said.
“We would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie,” the family further added.
The news of McVie’s passing came as a shock to the music industry and soon, fans and fellow musicians poured in their condolences for the singer.
The official page of Fleetwood Mac also released the official statement of the band. The statement read, “There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”
Fellow bandmate and close friend, Stevie Nicks also paid tribute to Christine through a tweet. She posted an old photo of the two along with a handwritten note. Nicks called McVie her “best friend in the whole world, since the first day in 1975”. Singer Harry Styles too posted an old black and white photo of McVie along with a dove and black heart emojis.
Though Christine McVie has been part of several bands and even released three solo albums, she is majorly known as a member of the pop rock band Fleetwood Mac. She delivered some famous hits while being part of the band and as a solo artist as well. Some of her notable works include ‘Got A Hold On Me’, ‘You Make Loving Fun’, ‘Little Lies’ and more.
