Rahul brings Gehlot-Pilot on table, final decision left to Gandhis!

New Delhi: Amid the crisis in the party’s Rajasthan unit, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday held a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who asserted that he had never seen the tradition in the party that someone is asked by the high command about a post he wants or is offered one to pacify him. The meeting regarding Rajasthan Congress, which went on for nearly four hours, was attended by Rahul Gandhi, Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, CM Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sachin Pilot, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and Shashi Tharoor brainstormed on various issues of the state.

Gehlot arrived at the residence of Kharge here at the 10 Rajaji Marg, and soon after him, former party chief Rahul Gandhi and state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also reached for the meeting. According to sources, the party leaders were set to decide on the crisis in the state leadership where Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot have opened a front against each other.

In fact the major take away from the meeting was that there are signs of reconciliation between the two camps (Gehlot-Pilot) in the meeting. After the meeting, KC Venugopal spoke of fighting the elections united and said, “both Gehlot and Pilot will contest the elections together. Both left the decision of the formula on the high command.”

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi showed his power and gave a message of unity to the leaders. After a long time, Rahul brought Gehlot-Pilot on the discussion table and asserted how a unified Congress in Karnataka changed the political direction and condition of Congress and thus discussion was also done on how to win in Rajasthan based on the Karnataka election model! Therefore, now the Congress politics in Rajasthan is on a decisive moment!

After all, what was discussed in the Rajasthan Congress meeting? Informed sources have revealed that on the survey that was stressing about Gehlot’s mandate, Kharge clearly said, “We are following the plans.

In Rajasthan, we will go to seek votes only on Gehlot’s plan. ‘Right now we will not be able to tell about the face, who will be the face. After the elections only the MLAs will decide who will be the Chief Minister. In Karnataka also we went to the election ground on the same formula. Whoever goes outside the party line has to leave the party. Neither Rahul Gandhi, nor Kharge, Venugopal will leak anything from the meeting. Now it will be talked about in the media, we will have to see who is leaking. Elections will be fought in the government on the plan of the government. There will be a collective decision regarding ticket distribution in the election. Election campaign committee will intervene, everyone will be consulted.”

Meanwhile, many things were kept in the meeting on behalf of Gehlot while several things have been told to Pilot in the meeting. A discussion was also done on MLAs who are afraid of getting tickets cut in elections. “The party is standing with the MLAs who are with the Congress. MLAs who are afraid of not getting ticket should now support Congress,” the leadership expressed. Meanwhile, Pilot will be given a post.
