MHA launches affordable commodities program in Manipur with 37 Kendriya police kalyan bhandar outlets
New Delhi: In a significant move towards community welfare, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, has initiated a program to provide affordable commodities to the people of Manipur.
As part of this initiative, 21 existing Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandars (KPKBs), along with 16 newly established outlets, have been opened for the local public in the state of Manipur.
Among these, the Subsidiary Bhandar under the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB) of the CISF at Imphal International Airport was inaugurated on September 17, 2024, by Hari Om Gandhi, DIG (AP E&NES) CISF in the presence of KSH Shivakanta Singh, IPS Supdt. of Police, Imphal-West and Chipemmi Keishing Airport Director.
The canteen is now open to the local civilian population of Manipur.
Until now, the CISF Subsidiary Bhandar was accessible only to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and state police personnel, who also benefited from a 50% GST concession on their purchases. While this GST benefit will remain exclusive to CAPF and police personnel, local civilians can now take advantage of the broad selection of high-quality, discounted products available at the canteen.
This new access is designed to ease daily costs for residents by offering essential goods at concessional rates.
By opening the canteen to the public, the CISF is contributing to the welfare of local residents, easing their access to necessary products at reasonable price.
This bold initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Government of India to the welfare and upliftment of the local population in Manipur, ensuring that essential goods and products are made available to them at reduced rates. The move is a testament to the government's ongoing effort to integrate welfare measures in day to day lives of its citizens.
