DOES BJP NOT KNOW THE SUBTLE, STRATEGIC WAY OF CHANGING CONTENT IN BOOKS?

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre and the BJP governments in many states are changing books on history and some other subjects. Political science books are also being changed. It is not that books are being changed for the first time but for the first time books are being changed in such an calm and easy manner. Earlier there was a process to replace the books. A team of writers and editors worked on it. The changes were made keeping in mind the totality of the subject. Care was taken that the change in the book of a subject should be in such a way that in spite of the change, it would be consistent. It should not seem that suddenly something has been removed in the middle. However, this time thi ‘care’ is not being followed, as without consideration, random parts are being removed, affecting the totality of the subject.
Changes have been made in many NCERT books. The chapters about the rulers of the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal period have been shortened. But shortening does not mean that chapters are written anew, only random parts have been removed. Its purpose is that students do not know or know little about certain things. Instead, it would have been better if they were rewritten about those subjects in an objective way. It helps the students to form their own point of view. Even if the BJP has to make history and political science books according to its ideology, then writing every chapter anew was a better solution. Just like the books made during the Congress rule also have a chapter on Emergency.
