‘A LOT’ IN A NAME!

Surat/New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his remarks about PM Narendra Modi’s surname by a court in Gujarat’s Surat.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate HH Varma, which held Gandhi guilty under Indian Penal Code sections 499 and 500, also granted him bail and suspended sentence for 30 days to allow him to appeal in higher court, Cong leader’s lawyer Babu Mangukiya said.

Today, all Opposition parties will march from Parliament to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Congress said it has sought time from President Droupadi Murmu to present the Rahul’s case.
