Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate granted bail by Bombay HC

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Siddharth Pithani, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate has been released on bail by the Bombay High Court after being arrested a year ago, in May 2021. Pithani is one of the many acquaintances of Rajput who were arrested by the NCB for alleged involvement in narcotics consumption and trafficking. He was given bail on July 4 by a single bench of Justice Bharati Dangre on a bond of Rs 50, 000.

PTI reported that the flatmate had been booked under section 27 (A) (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and many other charges. He was seeking bail on the claims that he was framed in a false case and that no drugs were found in his possession nor were any other clues that hinted at his involvement in drug trafficking.

Previously, Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik Chakraborty were arrested by the NCB on similar charges and were released on bail a few months later. The NCB suspected Pithani, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother to be involved in narcotics consumption. However, all of them were released on bail as the NCB or the CBI failed to collect any evidence against the three.
