Kartik Aaryan on the failure of Love Aaj Kal 2: After Friday, it is the film and not the cast that takes over the box office numbers

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Currently, Kartik Aaryan is one of the biggest stars of the Hindi film industry. The actor has been busy shooting back-to-back for some big projects. But while he is getting his deserved recognition now, the actor had to go through his fair share of struggles and flops to reach the top. One of the biggest failures of his career can no doubt be credited to the Love Aaj Kal reboot. The film had been seriously hyped along with the much-loved couple of Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan. But the Imtiaz Ali directorial failed to create the magic that its first part did.

During a recent interview with Times of India, Kartik revealed that he always has contemplated signing some of his biggest hits including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Pati, Patni Aur Woh and Luka Chuppi. He further stated that he believes Love Aaj Kal’s failure was the film’s fault. Though he maintained the stance that he loved working with Imtiaz Ali. Kartik said that he had confidence in his fans because the film collected Rs 13 crores on the first day, which means the audience came in for the star cast. The actor said, “The Friday collection is very important. It gives you a sense of the number of people coming in for the star cast. Saturday and thereafter, it’s the film that takes over and tries to move ahead.”

Love Aaj Kal 2 came at a time when Sara Ali Khan had just confessed on Koffee With Karan that she has a crush on Kartik Aaryan. The confession had caused quite a stir and Imtiaz signing up the two stars for his next project added to the hype. There were rumours while filming the movie that Sara and Kartik are dating each other. Their social media posts where they clearly seemed comfortable and happy in each other’s company added fuel to the fire. Although none of the party confirmed these rumours, their subtle hints and taunts during interviews reveal that the rumoured couple did not end their romance on a sweet note.
