Kangana Ranaut makes a strong appeal on Emergency "Let Audiences Decide After Watching"
Kangana Ranaut, who is gearing up for the release of her period political drama Emergency, has made a passionate appeal to audiences, urging them to reserve judgment until they’ve seen the film. She stressed the importance of letting viewers form their own opinions rather than giving in to external pressures.
“Emergency is an authentic film, and if fringe groups are provoking people, the decision should be made after watching the movie. Do not ban it before watching,” Kangana emphasized.
Touching upon the portrayal of controversial historical figures in her film, including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Kangana pointed out that other films have faced similar challenges prior to release but were ultimately screened.
“If you believe Bhindranwale was a terrorist, then my movie should still be released. I’m standing alone in support of my film,” she asserted.
Kangana expressed frustration over the lack of support from the industry, contrasting her experience with the release of films like Padmaavat and Udta Punjab, which despite facing threats, were backed and eventually launched successfully.
“Films like Padmaavat and Udta Punjab released well, even after all the threats, but when it comes to my film, no one has stepped up. I’m completely on my own,” she concluded.
In Emergency, Kangana portrays the formidable Indira Gandhi, India’s late Prime Minister, during one of the country’s most turbulent periods. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the film’s music is composed by Sanchit Balhara, Ankit Balhara, and G.V. Prakash Kumar, with screenplay and dialogues by Ritesh Shah
