Jacqueline Fernandez granted interim bail in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar money laundering case

Mumbai (Maharashtra): A case involving multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez was heard at Patiala House Court on Monday. The Kick actor pleaded innocent in front of the police who had questioned her for two consecutive days for 7-8 hours. The police were suspicious of her after they found inconsistencies in her statement. An additional charge sheet naming her as an accused was filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently.

The latest updates indicate that Jacqueline has been granted interim bail. ED was asked to respond to the bail plea by Additional Sessions Judge Shailender Malik. She is currently awaiting regular bail from the court until then. Upon the lawyer's request, the court granted Jacqueline an interim bail bond of Rs 50,000.

As witnesses in the case, Jacqueline and Nora Fatehi both recorded their statements. Fernandez's fixed deposits were attached earlier by the probe agency for Rs 7.2 crore. Gifts and properties received by the two actors were called "proceeds" of crime. It was before Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh's court in December that the ED filed its first charge sheet in this matter.

A supplementary charge sheet was filed in February against Pinky Irani, who allegedly introduced Chandrashekhar and Fernandez. Pinky often sent Fernandez expensive gifts after Chandrashekhar had paid for them, according to her charge sheet. In the past few years, Sukesh has spent around 20 crores on different models and Bollywood celebrities, among who, some declined to accept his offers.
