Body Shaming Erodes Confidence : Huma Qureshi
Actress Huma Qureshi, who is gearing up for the release of her next project ‘Double XL’, has recently opened up about dealing with body-shaming for years.
Talking about the unrealistic beauty standards, Huma stated the problem is very deeply ingrained in us. She recalled facing fat shaming and said that it erodes someone’s confidence. The actress also mentioned that women suffer from this issue every day. Huma also pointed out that her ‘anti-body-shaming’ film ‘Double XL’ aims to bring a positive change in society.
The actress quoted , “We look at women’s bodies and use dismissive words. Body shaming erodes somebody’s confidence. When we make a film about it and use our position as actors to create awareness, we start a healthy conversation.” The actress further explained that rather than a documentary, they were keen to make an entertaining film that targets the maximum audience and brings a positive change in people’s mindsets
Talking about the physical transformation she had to undergo for the film, Huma added that she had to gain weight for the film. According to her, she also had to stretch herself, physically, mentally, and spiritually, from one end of the spectrum to the other.
'Double XL' is directed by Satram Ramani and will feature Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra as lead characters.
