Ustad Anwar Khan Sahab, an eminent folk vocalist of Rajasthan born in 1960, is from a traditional family of village folk music. He started his music journey from his village in house of patrons, to the all the corners of world. He is known for remembering hundreds of folk songs, bhajans, sindhi sufiana, and much more, and has extensively travelled within India and abroad as cultural ambassador to various countries like Russia, Japan, America, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Iran, Iraq, Australia, China, Pakistan, Spain, and so on. He is an approved artiste of All India Radio, Doordarshan, and ICCR.
He has travelled more than 50 countries for his musical performances, and has received many awards for the same. This year, Khan’s name was announced for Padma Shri Award, which is a pride for our country. He always works on passing-on his oral tradition to the next generation through many workshops held at different places, and also wishes that the next generation of the folk musicians of western Rajasthan should go for proper education, to reach at the pinnacle of their life.
