Haryanvi Banter: Stand up comedian Vijay Yadav
Vijay Yadav, a stand up comedian from Gurgaon performed in Jaipur on Sunday in the show, ‘Bantering’.
The man who got booed off the stage once, Vijay Yadav, a mechanical engineer hailing from Gurgaon, who has performed in over 500 shows in India and abroad, shared his journey about how he became one of the best stand-up comic artists after he showcased a ‘Bantering’ show at Hotel La Palma, Jaipur, on Sunday.
“When I started 3 years ago, I had no clue about stand-up comedy but it was in my ‘check-list’. There was a time when nobody used to laugh during my performances. But that gave me a sort of a kick to become better.”, Vijay stated.
The man who has been excellent in all the fields that he has worked in, shared that initially he was a teacher, then he went to Germany for another job, even started a business but ended up being a comic.
During a conversation, Yadav said, “Content is not created overnight. It takes time. I collaborate something new with something which I may have written 3 years ago.”
“It took me approximately one year to grasp the concept of stand-up shows. Initially I used to try my jokes in open mic sessions. After getting ‘bombed’ for a few times, I started ‘killing’ on stage and since then I have not stopped.”, said the ‘Bantering’ master.
“I left the stage during the show when I got booed off. But Jeeveshu was there. He told me to go back and keep going for 5 more minutes. Then I went on an open mic tour. I came back to that same venue after 3 months where I had ‘bombed’ my performance, I ‘killed’ it. That feeling was mesmerising. In 2017, my first video came out on YouTube and since then I have been just ‘killing’ it.”, Vijay shared.
The audience does not get enough of Vijay now. They always seem to want a little more, no matter how long he performs for and Yadav is now one of the best stand-up comic artists the country has ever seen with at least 20 million views on his YouTube videos. The live shows are to die for!
