Celebrating intangible heritage
The 19th edition of Ruhaniyat, the multi-city annual festival, is coming to Ahmedabad! Presented by Banyan Tree at Vastrapur Amphitheater this Friday, the one-of-a-kind festival features carriers of living traditions not only from across India but also from around the world. It is a timely reminder of the human capacity to love, to nurture, to guide.
Friday’s programme is set to feature artists from home and abroad in productions including So Said the Mystics of Gujarat (Hemant Chauhan and Group), Kabir Chaura (Mir Mukhtiyar Ali and Group); Magic of Altai Muntains (Aylanmaa Damyran), Voices of Mystics of Iran (Mehdi Emami and Saeid Mohammadi), When Hearts Connect (Indo-Iranian production by Iran Group in association with Mir Mukhtiyar Ali and group) and Qawwali by Chisti Brothers and group. Over the years, Ruhaniyat has discovered and brought on the main stage more than 25 near-extinct art forms, giving them a new lease of life. Tickets available online.
